Mit Unterstützung der punkigen Josie macht sie ihren Vater im amerikanischen Südwesten ausfindig – er betreibt eine Rummelplatzbude mit Mars-Show und freut sich sehr über seine wiedergefundene Tochter. Sie und Josie werden sofort als Attraktionen in die Show eingebaut. Nach und nach wird die Marsprinzessin Lili mit der harten irdischen Realität konfrontiert. Offenbar hat ihre Mutter ein Ende gefunden, wie es ihr ein schurkischer Lord nicht schlimmer hätte bereiten können; offenbar hat ihr Vater damit zu tun; und offenbar ist Lili selbst bei weitem nicht so außerirdisch wie sie es sich erträumt hatte. Die Geschichte endet wie alle richtigen Weltraumabenteuer: in einem Feuerball.

Lili is a little Martian girl on a hostile planet: Earth. She is on a mission to find her father, the King of Mars. Only he can free the red planet's Queen from the dungeons of evil Lord Dread. At least this is what Lili believes.

With the help of a twentysomething punk girl, Josie, she is able to track down the King – who runs a mars-style fairground show in the Southwest. Thrilled about his prodigal daughter, he makes her and Josie the new attractions of the show. Step by step, Lili the Princess of Mars gets confronted with Earth's harsh reality. Apparently, her mother has met a fate far more dreadful than any villainous lord could conjure up; apparently, her father has something to do with it; and apparently, Lili herself isn't nearly as extra-terrestrial as she wished. The story, like any good space adventure, ends in a ball of fire.
